Canadian songwriters propose monetizing P2P in Canada

Thinking outside the box... the Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC) is proposing a monthly 5$ "tax" be imposed on every ISP subscriber in Canada for the "Right to Equitable Remuneration for Music File Sharing" -- with out motive for financial gain. To me, this is a license to pirate at a cost of 60$ a year.

It's an interesting view -- though I don't know if the Canadian (or other) record associate would go for it...
